Common FAQs
Yes! You can apply here. The online application form asks questions about the student/s you would like to enroll. Just submit your form, and we will be in touch with you to go over the next steps.
Yes! The student lottery for the Bronx schools will be held on April 2, 2025. Applications must be submitted by April 1, 2025. Lottery results are announced the next day. If student applications exceed the number of seats available, they are put on a waitlist by the date of application. As families accept or decline their lottery offers, waitlist students are notified of availability. We have open enrollment if there is no waitlist for a specific campus.
Anyone can apply! Priority is given to students living within the neighborhood boundaries.
Enrollment preference is given to siblings of current Brilla students, children of Brilla employees at our schools, in district applicants, and in district economically disadvantaged applicants.
The standard dates for the applications are:
October 1: Applications open
April 1: Applications close
April 2: Student lottery held and results are announced

Yes! Every child has a device that they use with programs that adjust to individual learning levels in reading and math.
Character education is central to our curriculum. We teach virtues like courage, justice, wisdom, and self-control every day, helping students become well-rounded individuals.
Brilla Schools offers a classical education model focused on academic rigor, character development, and virtue. Their curriculum likely emphasizes the study of foundational texts, critical thinking, and effective communication through the Trivium (grammar, logic, and rhetoric). Electives & Activities FAQs
We don’t have overnight trips yet, but we do plan one out-of-state trip for our graduating 8th graders! We also have HS trips for our middle schoolers.
Yes! Every Friday, we offer a variety of electives and clubs for students to explore their interests. Electives range from art to engineering to student council.
Yes! All students experience Science, Art, Music, and PE in all of our schools.
High School Readiness FAQs
We do! Advanced courses and high school readiness programs help our students prepare for success in high school and beyond.
Yes! We have an active alumni program that provides support, resources, and networking opportunities for our graduates.
After-School Program FAQs
Yes! Our optional after-school program, El Camino, provides academic support, fun activities, supervised care, and catechism.
The program has a small fee, and we offer scholarships for families in need to ensure everyone can join.
Nope! Our after-school program is open to all students, no matter their religious background.
Non-Catholic students participate in the same activities as everyone else, focusing on academic support, arts, sports, and community service.
Schedule FAQs
Drop-off for elementary schools starts at 7:30 AM, and dismissal is at 3:05 PM. Middle school hours are from 7:45 AM to 3:20 PM.
Our optional El Camino after-school program runs from dismissal until 5:30 PM and offers snacks, homework help, recreational activities, and catechism. We have two dismissal times: 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM.
Languages FAQs
We don’t offer foreign language courses for middle schoolers right now, but we’re always exploring new options!
We have a Student Services Team that helps Spanish-speaking students with their English language development while valuing their native language. We also translate all documents and have Operations Teams that support families.
Teachers & Staff FAQs
Each classroom usually has one lead teacher and may include a special education teacher or Teaching Fellow, depending on the grade and students’ needs.
Class sizes are typically around 25 students, with one lead teacher and often a co-teacher or Teaching Fellow.
Yes, all our homeroom teachers are certified to teach children in NY and participate in ongoing training to ensure they provide quality instruction.
Communication FAQs
We love keeping parents informed! You’ll hear from your child’s teachers and school staff regularly through emails, phone calls, our parent app, and in-person meetings.
Parents participate in Back to School Nights, Parent Universities, and various events to learn more about what your child is doing and how you can help at home.
Safety & Policies FAQs
Your child’s safety is our main priority. We have clear safety policies and a culture of respect. Our buildings have security guards, cameras in hallways and exits, and staff trained for emergencies.
We have a strong anti-bullying policy that includes ways to report issues, staff training, and student education to create a safe and welcoming environment. We follow NYS’s Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and bullying of any kind is not tolerated.
We focus on reinforcing good behavior, setting clear expectations, and building a respectful community. We have a Family Handbook and Code of Conduct that all students and families must follow.
Cell phones are not allowed to be used during the school day. We understand students may need phones to commute to and from school and they can be kept in backpacks or designated spots during school hours.
Yes, you can send your child with lunch! We also provide healthy meal options for those who prefer to eat at school.
